Fontaine Bleau Sengokutei

The food was the highlight. We had two breakfasts and two dinners across our two nights, and every menu was different. Staff explained everything clearly and kindly accommodated our request to use a translation device. Thank you to all of them for the excellent service. The hotel is a little away from the main areas, which gave us a peaceful, relaxing stay. Having a car made getting around easy, and we loved the hidden gem feel. We were very happy with our stay and would love to return. If you're after private open-air baths and amazing food in Hakone, I highly recommend it.

Dinner was delicious, especially the lobster, roasted bonito, and different sorbets. The staff managed our food allergies while still giving us a top-tier meal like the regular menu, and they were friendly and helpful throughout. We speak very little Japanese, but they worked with us through the language barrier. Our room was spacious, comfortable, and clean, and the bath and balcony were perfect for relaxing. We were really pleased with our stay.

Our corner room, 101, was large and had an open bath that was lovely for cooling down after a hot soak. It was nice for pictures too. The bed was cozy, and I slept like a baby. Dinner and breakfast were carefully and elegantly prepared, and absolutely delicious. Everyone on staff was kind and attentive, and spoke enough English to communicate with non-Japanese speakers. We spent one night here midway through our two-week trip in Japan, and it was just right for resting and recharging.

The French-Japanese dinners were delicious, with a great range of flavors. We'd enjoyed several Japanese-French meals during our three weeks in Japan, and these were among them. We had a private onsen with hot spring water and took several baths a day. By the end, our skin felt amazing. The shiatsu massage was relaxing, though I wish we'd booked ahead for a better time slot, since ours ended up in the middle of the afternoon. It feels remote, but you can still get there by bus from Odawara station without a car. Staff spoke English, and we appreciated that the hotel wasn't full of tourists. It was easy to unwind with the natural scenery around us. We'd love to come back on another trip.
