The private onsen, which all the guests can use, was my favourite part. The staff member was so kind and made me feel welcome right away. My single room was cozy and clean, and I enjoyed staying here so much that I wished I’d booked two nights. I wanted to be sure to leave a review. Thank you!

The owner spoke English really well and made us lovely dinner and breakfast. Rum was well behaved, too. It’s a nice spot, with scenery all around and a bus stop nearby. We stayed in a private room, and it seemed insulated well enough that we didn’t need the heater even on a cold day. I enjoyed the stay and would come back if I return to Hakone. The one drawback was the annex bathroom: it’s very small, and there isn’t much space above the sink if you’re tall.

The mini onsen is a nice touch, and the hostel’s common area has a welcoming feel and is good for meeting other travellers. The guys who run the place are friendly, and their beautiful dog is welcoming too. I found the accommodation could use a thorough clean, though. I suppose the price comes with expectations.

Getting around was easy, with a bus stop just a few minutes away. The guesthouse bar had food and drinks at very reasonable prices, and the friendliest dog was there for plenty of cuddles. Our room was spacious, and the private onsen was a great bonus. The host was welcoming and easy to communicate with. Such a lovely hidden gem in Hakone.

The host was kind, helpful and always available, and Rum is the guesthouse’s star, the best dog ever. It’s close to a bus stop but far enough from the crowds if you want some peace. My capsule room was fine, roomy enough and had a light and socket. I really liked being able to unwind in the small indoor onsen. There’s also a bar serving food and drinks, plus a sociable common area. The bathrooms were good, and you can rent a towel and use the dryer and washing machine. You can wear either outdoor or indoor slippers. Still the best place I’ve stayed in Japan so far. It’s a gem.
