The food and onsen were both great, which is a shame because cigarette smoke made the stay unpleasant. We had to breathe secondhand smoke walking to and from our rooms, and some probably got into the rooms too, since smoking is allowed inside the building. When we told the front desk, they didn’t seem to care that it was affecting guests’ health. Without the cigarette smoke, I’d give this place five stars.

Our Japanese-style room was spacious, with an excellent view. The onsen was nice, the food was good, and the staff were super friendly. We left our wallet at the hotel, and they sent it to our next hotel that same day. Thanks for a very pleasant stay. Arigato gozimas!

When something went wrong, the staff fixed it with a smile. They were super friendly, and the onsen was great. This superb hotel puts hospitality first and focuses on guests’ well-being. RECOMMENDED!

We paid ¥88000 (SGD 772) a night for a family of five in one room, including breakfast and dinner, and it was probably the best value in the area. We had the Western-Japanese room on the sixth floor, with three futons, two single Simmons beds, and our own indoor onsen, shower, and WC. You can book directly on the hotel website or through Rakuten. I couldn’t find it on Booking.com. The hotel has a shuttle to hakone yumoto, though we drove for flexibility and appreciated the free parking. Finding dinner around Hakone can be hard since places close by 5pm, so it was a relief to have dinner at the hotel. It’s a hidden gem, with mostly local guests and friendly staff who do their best with English.
