Dinner was the standout for us, and it was included in the hotel rate both nights. It felt like Michelin-level fine dining, and they adjusted the menu for my partner’s dietary restrictions. Breakfast was a full experience too. One morning we had an early tee time, and the staff packed meals for us to take along. My partner and I stayed two nights in March, and the service was wonderful from the start. They welcomed us with hot tea and cookies at check-in. The room had thoughtful extras: a robe, pajamas, slippers, and complimentary refreshments in a fully stocked mini fridge. Kanaya Resort is one of the most magical places I’ve stayed. It’s a hidden gem, as intimate as some of the world’s finest luxury hotels and available at a fraction of the price. A perfect refuge while exploring Hakone. Thank you, I can’t wait to come again! We stayed overnight for my sister’s birthday, and the in-house restaurant made it a spectacular celebration. Every course was beautifully presented, the flavors were exquisite, and the staff explained the inspiration behind each dish, which made dinner even more special. The private spa suite was a peaceful place to unwind afterward. The hotel felt attentive and personal in every detail, with warm, exceptional service. Best hotel in Japan so far. For luxury, food, and hospitality, it sets the gold standard. Can’t wait to return!

The mountain-view onsen was lovely, and the rooms were beautiful. We had a fantastic meal with dishes presented so artfully. It was an exceptional stay from beginning to end. Highly recommend!

It’s in the middle of nowhere, but the crew were friendly and tried their best to speak English. Dinner was a surprise, with lots of drink choices. The food felt kind of French overall, with a Japanese twist. The lamb was outstanding. I had a little trouble finding the caviar on my fish. Desserts were about right, and the chocolate was delicious.

The rooms are new, modern, and nicely designed. The bed was good quality, and the place is exclusive to 14 rooms, not a public bath house. The onsen was decent, though it’s a small tub in the room. There was barely a view. The food was the worst part. Don’t eat here. It was terrible, and the restaurant service was very bad and extremely slow. It took almost 1 hour for the food to arrive, and it was cold instead of hot. If you come here, I suggest preparing your own food.
