A peaceful, lovely Onsen Hotel with great staff and a very good breakfast. The spa bath was wonderful, and the owner should be proud. It’s dog-friendly, but that needn’t put you off, the place is very, very clean. Japanese pets seem better behaved than people. To get here, make sure you catch the last rope line at 5pm. Otherwise you’ll need the bus, and after dark you really need a GPS phone.

We stayed at Klingel Baum in late March and had a lovely time. The amenities were a bit sparse, but for cheaper lodging with its own Onsen, it was about as much as we could ask for. The hotel isn’t in the best spot, though it wasn’t too bad. I’d visit again.

The owner can give you a free ride to the ropeway st. if you need one. The food was great, with a generous dinner and a really rich breakfast. Staff and service were both great, and the rooms felt cozy. The atmosphere was lovely, and the private onsen was very nice, with one indoor bath and one outdoors. Try both!

For the price, this place was amazing. The pumpkin and rice soups were the best I’ve had, breakfast was great, and dinner was good. The onsen is private in the sense that any guest can take the key. I’d go for the outdoor bath to cool off. It’s a simple onsen, but that alone made it worthwhile. I was surprised the owner spoke any English, and they knew enough to help us with our trip. Walk a block or two and you can catch a tiny glimpse of fuji. The location is handy, about 10 minutes from the port/cable car. Tip: If you end up at the bus stop on the other side, head right towards the sports complex and look for the small footpath.

A clean, homey little inn for families.
