The staff were friendly and spoke several languages. I also enjoyed keeping some old touches in the room, like the old radio and alarm clock setup, now adapted for the lights. It gives the space a nice retro feel. The hotel is large and pretty nice, with spacious rooms and hot springs. Each room has its own toilet and bath if you’d rather skip the public baths, though I strongly recommend going. The onsen water is fantastic and left my skin feeling smooth and wonderful, so I visited many times. The outdoor rotenburo uses a mix of volcanic and regular water. One small indoor bath is all volcanic water, while many of the other indoor baths have jets and use plain water. Dinner and breakfast are buffets and were pretty good, with a great selection and stations where cooks prepare food fresh, including omelettes, rice balls, agepan, and other surprises. Breakfast has both Western and Japanese options, like toast, cereal, fruit, rice, fish, and natto. I had a great stay.

The buffet breakfast and dinner were worth having, especially for my 15-year-old son, who ranked dinner among his top 10 thanks to the unlimited fresh sushi. The rooms are huge and excellent value. They’re a little dated, but our family didn’t mind with so much space.

The food and coffee were good, and the staff were welcoming. The laundry setup, though, was a hassle. There’s only one washer and one dryer, and plenty of guests need them, so people end up waiting and trying to figure out whose load finished first. A sign-up sheet or some kind of queue would help. With a hotel this size and so many international travelers, adding another washer and dryer would make sense, or better yet, offering laundry service. The rooms also feel quite dated. Some of the fixtures and furniture look like they could be from the 1970s or 1980s.

We had a nice stay. The bus stop is an easy walk away, and the rooms are spacious, with all the conveniences you need, though a little dated. Dinner had lots of choices and was delicious, and breakfast was great too. I’d happily come back.
