COTTAGE Yamajyu

My family and I loved this cute, cozy cottage and plan to book again. It’s well off the beaten path, but the owner has a shuttle van if you need one. We drove, so didn’t use it. The cottage was very clean and comfortable, with good heating and modern appliances.

We’re on day three of a four-day, three-night stay, and already this little hideaway feels like home. I really don’t want to leave! It’s quiet at the very back of the villa area, tucked away so you don’t have to worry about being seen. The cut logs are sturdy and beautiful, and the soft sound of streams in front and behind is so calming. It’s small but has everything you need, arranged conveniently, and it’s well looked after. I dream of living in a mountain cabin someday, so seeing a place like this was a treat. One thing, the table area in the open-ceiling room is a bit dark; some directional halogen lights from the window or beams would help. There are lots of delicious restaurants along the way to the station, surprisingly better than in Tokyo.

The streets are a bit of a distance away, but it’s quiet around here and there are dedicated parking spaces.
