Felse Inn Gakusui

The gyoza restaurant downstairs was really convenient, and there are other restaurants in the area, though you may want to book ahead. It’s a quiet area away from the main town, with a 7-11 about a ten-minute walk away. We had a great five-night stay at the Gakasui in a triple room with a bathroom. It was clean and had a great mountain view. The bathroom was small but functional, and I ended up using the renovated third-floor showers and toilets, which were very nice. The hostel is close to Iwatake, about a ten-minute drive from Hakuba. There’s a morning shuttle to Iwatake and Happo one, and you can take the Iwatake shuttle to catch the V2 bus to other resorts. Overall, it was a good-value place to stay while visiting Hakuba.

The free breakfast and easy access to the ski resort made me very happy with my stay. I was traveling alone but felt comfortable and relaxed, and the staff were kind, so I felt at ease on my own. The building had just been renovated and was clean and comfortable. My room stayed warm even in the cold season. I appreciated the little practical touches, like having a place to store ski boots. I only stayed a short time this trip, but next time I’d like to stay longer. I’d definitely come back.

It’s in a convenient, easy-to-find spot in Iwatake-Shinden, and I think the price is reasonable. There was a customer staying there.
