The kids loved playing in the snow outside, going to the river across the street, then coming back to soak in the freestanding tub. Hinoki Chalet made our family holiday in Hakuba feel just right. We came in ski season, though I can imagine staying here in summer too. It sleeps eight and works well for one or two families. The house is brand new, with lovely light coming through all those south-facing windows. Inside, it's simple but feels a little luxurious, with warm heated floors, comfortable bathrooms for everyone, a great kitchen for cooking, and tall Hinoki pine ceilings upstairs. The setting has a village feel, with restaurants a short walk away and the mountains just a few minutes by car. We have so many good things to say about this place. Can't wait to come back.

We came in summer, and this beautiful mountain house was a lovely escape from Tokyo's heat. It suited our two families well and had all the appliances and conveniences we needed. The location worked well for us, too. I especially liked having a gas BBQ, so we could cook almost every meal on it.

A great setup for two families. The whole place is modern and brand new, with floor heating throughout, so it was really comfortable. You'll need a car to reach the ski areas, but Hakuba47, Goryu, and Happo-One are only about five minutes away.

We spent two nights here as two families, four adults and four kids, including an infant. There was plenty of room and storage in every bedroom, so all our luggage didn't make things feel crowded. A travel crib could fit beside the bed, too. The clean, modern look still felt cozy, and having the basics in the kitchen and bathroom meant we didn't have to worry about missing anything. The entrance opens onto a cloakroom where we could leave our bags. In winter, it's handy for hanging ski clothes and taking off gear before coming inside. Staying at Hinoki Chalet made me want to return to Hakuba.
