The room was spacious and had a lovely traditional Japanese style, and both the lobby and the ski history display were beautiful. The display is only in Japanese. The location is handy for Nakiyama lifts and the Adam gondola, with lots of places to eat nearby. Staff were friendly, and they can call someone to your room for a sports massage. There were some letdowns, though. The lobby and public bath felt cold, especially disappointing in February when the public baths didn’t seem to have heating. We were charged an extra $10 per person per night for heating after the stay. Paying extra for winter heating would have been fine, but being charged afterward when the hotel was cold anyway was frustrating. Our toilet was tiny, not very clean, and had no ventilation beyond a hole in the wall. We booked the cheapest room, but still expected some ventilation. It was okay, though there are better options in this price range in Hakuba.

Dinner was a generous, delicious French set menu, and breakfast was a lovely Japanese set. We booked both meals, and it was well worth it. The staff were kind, attentive, and friendly, and even offered free rides to places nearby, including JR Hakuba Station and Happo One Gondola. The ryokan has a nostalgic feel, with a spacious Japanese-style room, a cozy kotatsu, futons already laid out, and a private bathroom. Yukata and obi came in different sizes. There’s also a pretty semi-garden courtyard and gender-separated indoor and outdoor public onsens. The open-air bath at night was especially relaxing. A fantastic, relaxing stay with great food and value, under 5,000 THB per night. 10/10, highly recommend for a visit to Hakuba.

I loved this place! Such a cute Japanese ryokan, with excellent service. My dad got injured, so I changed my room three times before arriving, and they were so accommodating. Even the single room was spacious and great value, with the comfiest bed I’ve had in Japan. I also got lucky and was there for the NYE festivities.

A real gem, and one that shouldn’t be kept secret! The owners made a lovely homestyle Japanese breakfast every morning, and I really enjoyed chatting with the owner. Waking up to those dreamy views from the window was a treat, too. I loved my stay here, especially my three nights in Happo. It’s convenient to the Happo bus terminal as well.

It’s a very cozy, pleasant hotel, though the price is on the high side. The main issue for me was that foreigners aren’t allowed to book the Japanese-style room. I understand they may have concerns, but it still felt discriminatory, and that didn’t sit well with me.
