The hotel was clean, warm, and comfortable, and the onsen felt wonderful after skiing. We wished our seven nights had been longer. The breakfast choices were great, with toast, pastries, juice, and coffee alongside them. The staff were lovely, and the shuttle drivers took us wherever we needed without making it feel like a bother. The main ski rental place is a four minute walk away, and the base of one Happo One lift is about eight minutes on foot, though the shuttle goes there every morning. There are good restaurants nearby, and Happo village is a ten minute walk downhill for more food, the main bus station, and Lawson. Thanks, Phoenix!

The rooms were spacious, comfortable, and clean, though a little dated, and breakfast was very good. Service was also very good, with a useful shuttle to hotels and some ski resorts. There's a public bus stop nearby too, giving access to many other ski resorts. I'd consider staying again.

The HHG group were very responsive on Whatsapp and came to pick us up a few times when blizzard conditions rolled in. The hotel has a lovely onsen, mist sauna, and smart TV, and the breakfast was fabulous. It's a delightful little place in Hakuba, about a gentle ten minute walk downhill to town along a quiet, charming local road. In winter, all that snow made the walk feel magical. Highly recommend.

It's a small 12 room hotel with an onsen and a wonderful steam shower, and it's close to everything. There's also one of Hakuba's nicest restaurants and a solid breakfast. At most hotels I check in, sleep, shower, and check out without much contact. The Phoenix felt different. The team is easy to reach on Whatsapp and will help book dinner, shuttle you around, point you toward the best pow, or lend a hand when you need one. It felt like having a local mate around. We'll be back. Thanks to the whole team, you're all awesome.

Honestly, I wouldn't recommend this place if you're not Australian. Workers all over Hakuba are from Australia, and since we aren't, I felt we were treated differently. The TV didn't work, the onsen had limited hours, and there was no shower in the room. Be aware that the twin beds were Japanese-sized.
