The host and staff were very friendly and nice. The house and facilities are a little old, but there’s a small onsen bath and a drying room. Goryu is eight minutes away on foot, and a free shuttle is available. Three restaurants are nearby, while the convenience store is a 15-minute walk.

The owner’s family are warm and welcoming, and their homey service is a real pleasure. I also love the big bath and fireplace. It’s an established guesthouse in the area and a little older, but the meals satisfy both in quality and quantity. During ski season they even run a minibus to the Goryu and Tomi ski slopes.

The large bus that picked me up and dropped me at the slopes ran on time, which I really appreciated. It was my first stay at Ski University, and I could relax in my single room with its double bed.

No trout for me in the Himekawa River, but I did manage to catch some in the irrigation canal!
