Sunny Side Hut

Dinner cooked by Erica and her family became the highlight of every day. Erica makes homemade Japanese food for breakfast and dinner if you want it, and the food was incredible. The rooms were cozy and comfortable, and the whole place felt friendly and welcoming. It was our first trip to Japan, and the hosts were so helpful with planning our stay, skiing, and travel. They picked us up from the bus stop and dropped us at the train station when we left. We absolutely will come back on future trips to Japan and hakuba. We can’t recommend sunny side hut enough. Tomo & Erika have made this feel like a warm, welcoming home away from home, with a Japanese experience, a great location, lovely rooms, and super-friendly, accommodating hosts. I’ll come back here every time I visit the slopes.

The dining room is a lovely place to spend time, with board games and books. We really want to thank the hosts for having us and hope to see them again. If I could give more than five stars, I would! The hosts were so welcoming, and the rooms were clean and very comfortable. Breakfast on our first morning was delicious: French toast, fresh fruit, cold apple juice, coffee, and yogurt with granola, all cooked by the hosts. Dinner was just as good, with several courses. The next morning’s breakfast was completely different, with amazing club sandwiches.

The family who run Sunny Side Hut are warm and welcoming, and work hard to make sure you have a wonderful stay. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and there’s convenient parking right by the entrance. We’ll certainly stay here again when we visit Hakuba. Breakfast is served downstairs in the common area. It was delicious, filling, and different each morning. There are toys and books there for children, too. You can buy lift tickets at the hotel for quite a bit less than at the ticket office, and the owners gave us excellent dinner recommendations.
