Rosenheim Hakuba

Breakfast was a highlight, with lots of tasty options from 7:15 to 8:30. Each room has its own table, which was a nice touch. The location is great, about an eight-minute walk to Happo One ski resort and even closer to the Hakuba Valley bus near Nakayama slope. The staff were exceptional, friendly, and fun. Our room was quite big, with everything we needed, a separate tatami room, and comfortable beds. Other guests said the onsen was excellent, though I didn't try it. A few things could be better: the drying room wasn't warm enough to dry our things, though they rotated boots on a drying rack, so we dried our gear in the room instead. The shower and toilet fan barely worked, and the wifi was a bit flaky, but usable. We had a great time and I'd stay again.

The location near Happo-One Ski Resort was good, and I had breakfast and dinner at the hotel during my two days snowboarding alone. My single room had air conditioning, a TV, a small fridge, and a kettle, but it took a while to warm up because there was no heating. The meals were the main issue. I could hear kitchen staff shouting at the waiters, and they cleared plates so quickly that it was hard to relax and enjoy eating. Apart from that dining experience, everything else was good.

The people and the food were both great, and the location worked well. Rooms are basic but comfortable. The private bathrooms are small, a bit like one in a recreational vehicle, but functional. If you're mostly going to be outside skiing or hiking, this is a very good place to stay.

The views are incredible, and the location is amazing. It's off the road, so you don't hear snow plows, and you can walk straight out to Happo-one. The breakfast is fantastic, and the place is well worth a stay. There are some downsides: the electrical setup seems sketchy, the Wi-Fi is bad, the beds are a bit hard, and the restaurant is only okay. Still, it was worth it for us.
