I visited the day-trip hot spring on January 31, 2019. The large hall works as a rest area until 3 p.m., with cold water and a tea server available. The water has a hot spring smell and might have medicinal properties. From the baths, the high fence leaves you with only a view of the sky. The bathing area is probably enough for overnight guests, but it's smaller than a typical day-use facility. The water is on the hot side by old-fashioned standards, so I couldn't stay in for long, which was a big drawback for me. It seems popular with locals, and even on weekdays the small bath gets crowded, making it hard to relax. The inn sits within a Tokyu Resort villa development. Lake Inohana is apparently a selling point, but the slope is so gentle that nearby buildings block most of the low-level view, leaving very little lake visible. I wonder what the person who built the villas was thinking. You can just about make out the lake from the first floor of this Kanpo no Yado too. Maybe this is a remnant of the nostalgic bubble era.

The food was delicious, and the hot springs were clean and comfortable. I also had a lot of fun playing air hockey in the arcade (lol). The building has a Showa-era feel, but the staff were cheerful, and I felt relaxed in my lake-view room. I'd like to stay here again if I get the chance.

The room had a soothing view of Lake Inohana. It's not the newest place, but it's well maintained. There are two spots for charging cars in the parking lot, and the large public bath had a wheelchair that wheelchair users could use. Those are nice touches. I had dinner on the Hime no Mai plan, and the taste and amount were more than enough for someone who isn't a big eater.

My husband and I had a spacious, clean room with an open-air bath. Since we stayed in December, the washing area out there was very cold. It was hard to wash our hair and then quickly get into the tub, which was a shame. Some kind of windbreak would have helped.

With Kanpo closing for the year, I need to get a bath in now. The mineral content seems to help wounds and rough skin. A soak in the hot bath warms me from the inside and seems to boost circulation. I also find I sleep better on days when I bathe.
