Kuretake Inn Central Hamamatsu

Rooms are on the small side, but mine was clean and pleasant, with its own refrigerator. There’s a convenience store nearby, and the hotel is close to the train station while still being quiet. The evening happy hour is open to guests, and breakfast in the morning was outstanding.

The location is the big draw: under 10 minutes from the station, with a restaurant street just a few steps away. There’s ramen, yakiniku, sushi, a pub, and plenty to discover on foot. I even enjoyed wandering around during the day. My room and bathroom were both small, but I was comfortable and they were perfectly livable. The free breakfast was a surprise in the best way, with pastries, curry, and a good range of Japanese dishes. It felt like an experience on its own. I’d highly recommend the inn as long as you’re not expecting anything fancy.

Breakfast was great, with salad, bread, egg, salmon, miso soup, and rice. Drinks were available from 5 p.m. until 8 or 9 p.m. The compact room had all the facilities, including a TV, and there was laundry service, free WiFi, and complimentary toiletries. A good choice for a short stay, though the beds may be small for taller or heavier guests.

It’s a standard Japanese business hotel, with basic small rooms and a basic bed and bathroom. The station is very close, but there isn’t much else nearby. Reception staff spoke basic English, and there’s a handy coin laundry and a small shared bathing area. Breakfast is a free buffet, though I chose to eat at McDonald’s in the station.
