For the price, the room was more than enough. I was surprised how roomy it was, and it even had a balcony, almost like a regular apartment. Getting there isn't especially convenient, and opening the window lets in a lot of traffic noise. There's a convenience store and a Sukiya nearby, though, so it should be fine if noise doesn't bother you.

There are very few places to eat near the hotel, with only a Sukiya nearby. The room felt more like a weekly apartment or employee dorm than a hotel room, maybe because that's what it used to be. I also noticed water leaking from the bathroom shower, and the speeding cars are terribly loud, perhaps because the hotel is near a port. It's farther from Hamamatsu Station than I expected: a taxi cost 2140 yen. The bus stop is about a 10-minute walk away, and the fare to Hamamatsu Station is 370 yen. The front desk closes at 8:30 pm, which some people may find inconvenient, but at this reasonable room price you have to accept that trade-off. The TV has two NHK channels and four Shizuoka commercial channels, but no BS channels.

It's cheap, and anyone unhappy with the price should sleep in their car. They provide the basics: body soap, shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, towels, and so on. There's Wi-Fi and a microwave. The room has something like a kitchen, but no induction cooktop or gas stove. You can hear cars on Route 1, as others have said. It's a busy national highway that carries Japan's logistics, so the traffic noise can't really be avoided. I think it would be unbearable for people who live somewhere they can hear insects. About 1 km west on foot there's a Chinese restaurant, and Dosanko Ramen is across the street.

Good value for what you pay. There aren't restaurants nearby, so it's best to buy something or eat before you arrive. Wi-Fi is available but very unstable. The hotel sits along a major road, and you hear cars constantly. It's not so loud that you can't sleep, but it isn't quiet.
