Wan Wan Paradise Hamanako

The hotel had new interiors after its name change, and it was very pet friendly. Staff were accommodating, the facilities clean, and the food delicious. I loved looking out at the lake from our relaxing room. The ofuro was simple but nice, and there was also a rotemburo. There’s a zoo across the street, an amusement park just a 2-minute drive away, and an Onagi restaurant where you can eat with your dog. We wanted to stay longer, but they were fully booked. We’ll definitely come back.

I didn’t expect much since the hotel was so cheap, but it turned out comfortable, with everything just right. The room was roomy and clean, the food was tasty, and the hot spring was spacious and comfortable. The open-air bath was lukewarm, though, and I was shivering. My dog seemed to love the burger I ordered for him and gobbled it up. The waiters were lovely too. He doesn’t like dog runs, but there’s a park in front where he could stroll, and we enjoyed watching the ducks on Lake Hamana. I’d definitely stay here again.

The staff were really friendly, and pets were welcome at meals with cushions provided for the chairs. It was easy for them to walk around. I stayed on the first day of a three-day weekend and arrived around 5 PM. There were two meal times, but only the later one was available, so dinner was at 7:45 PM and breakfast at 8:45 AM. Both felt a bit late. Because they rotate guests through, the doors didn’t open until just before 9 the next morning, and I was anxious about the schedule change. I chose the standard Japanese dinner, which was okay, plus a half-buffet breakfast. Our triple room was spacious, but both it and the bathroom smelled strongly. The building and bath were clean, and the smell wasn’t noticeable in the indoor playroom. Maybe it was just that room. I hope they improve it.

I had no complaints about the view from the 6th floor, with the lake nearby, or the spacious, clean room. The bath was big and so comfortable I went in three times. The food was delicious too, and as someone who loves eel, I was glad they served it. Thanks to the staff for their smiling service. It was a fun trip.
