So warm and really good!
I spent a night here while visiting Kiritappu, a popular destination in eastern Hokkaido. The inn is a renovation of the old Hamanaka Ryokan in the town center. My Japanese-style room had a bed, but no air conditioning, just a fan. I feel air conditioning is important for construction workers to sleep well, though temperatures in eastern Hokkaido seldom go above 30°C, so perhaps there's not much to be done. The lobby does have air conditioning. The large bath, meals, laundry, and other services are shared. The town-run hot spring doesn't have air conditioning either.
The staff were kind and I felt comfortable here. It's a Japanese-style inn, but the rooms have plenty of space.
Dinner and breakfast were both tasty, and I came away feeling well rested. The public bath is a little small, but I was still able to unwind there. I stayed here while sightseeing and had a very good experience.
I was here on a work trip and booked a night without meals. The name "Workman House" made me expect somewhere mainly for construction workers, but the place was clean and pleasant, and I could relax properly. There's a convenience store within walking distance, which came in handy. Depending on the room, I think it could suit women and people traveling with children. I'd stay here again next time I'm in the area.
