Grandvrio Hotel Miyajima Wakura

The onsen looking out toward the island was amazing, and there's a sauna with a TV as well. We drove here for one night while visiting the famous temple on nearby Miyajima. They kindly let us leave the car until we returned in the afternoon. Between the great service, rooms, and onsen, this was one of the best hotels of our three-week trip around western Japan.

We only had one night here and wished we'd booked longer. The room was comfortable, the staff were friendly, and breakfast was really good, with an authentic Japanese feel. The shuttle to the station and water taxi to Miyajima Island were nice extras.

This ended up being my favorite hotel of our recent two-week trip. We only stayed one night, which was a shame. It has a great price, nice rooms, a free shuttle from the train station, free beer and ice cream, and an included onsen. The lobby and shared areas have beautiful views, so paying extra for a waterfront room isn't necessary for that. Ours faced the highway, but it was absolutely quiet, with no road noise. It's a really good hotel for the price. I don't hand out five-star reviews much these days, but this one nearly got one from me.

We stayed at Grandvrio Hotel Hiroshima, and it went beyond what we expected. The service was wonderful for such an affordable price, and there were lots of thoughtful extras. The onsen had a relaxing feel and an amazing view, with free popsicles and drinks afterward. Cold drinks were also available by reception all the time. They kept replenishing skincare items, soaps, lotions, and toiletries, which gave it a spa-like feel. The shuttle to and from the station was very convenient, especially since the hotel's location is the one small drawback. We could wear a traditional yukata during our stay. Our room was spacious and very comfortable, with a cozy tatami-style floor. The views were beautiful whether the room faced the sea or the mountains. Even the two kinds of slippers, one for around the hotel and one for the room, showed how much care went into the details. The staff were kind, helpful, professional, and spoke English very well. As a family, we were happy with how welcoming it was for kids, with board games and coloring areas to keep them busy. If you're visiting Hiroshima, this place is a gem. I'm honestly surprised it's rated only three stars. What else does a hotel need to do to get five? 😂
