Nishiyama Onsen Keiunkan

The hot spring area was a real highlight. The soothing water and mix of indoor and outdoor pools made it especially enjoyable. Our room felt cozy and peaceful, and it was spotless, including both the bedroom and bathroom. The food was fresh and delicious, with most ingredients thoughtfully sourced locally. Staff were warm, attentive, and polite, and the service went beyond what we expected. I’m grateful we had the chance to stay here. It’s well worth experiencing at least once, and I’d happily recommend it.

The area was interesting to explore, and the day we spent wandering around was relaxing and occasionally a little haunting, though brief. Having a car would give you more freedom to look around during your stay. We spent two nights here and made good use of the six baths and the sauna. Both multi-course dinners, with more than ten courses, were fantastic, as were the breakfasts, and you won’t leave either meal hungry. The service from the staff was brilliant. This felt like the most authentically Japanese part of our trip, and we recommend the onsen and gourmet experience.

The outdoor onsen was relaxing and memorable, and the dinner and breakfast courses were delicious. My wife and I had a wonderful stay at Nishiyama Onsen. The room’s traditional Japanese design was new to me, and it felt both peaceful and authentic. The staff were very kind and made us feel warmly welcomed. They deserve a lot of appreciation. The Japanese-style rooms were clean and cozy. It’s striking that this hotel has kept up its services for 1,300 years, something that seems possible only in Japan. It opened in 705 A.D. and is listed by Guinness World Records as the world’s oldest hotel and hot springs hotel. The natural setting is beautiful, and the buildings have magnificent, harmonious architecture.
