Comfort Hotel Hikone

Fantastic value, with a clean room and a nice view of the train station and the castle beyond. It was small, but the proper double bed made it feel above average to us. Staff are wonderful, and breakfast is better than the usual buffet, with interesting choices and fruit smoothies. There's free bicycle rental, which made exploring the sights of Hikone easy. Best budget hotel chain in Japan.

I stayed here in September 2025 while cycling Biwaichi around Lake Biwa, and it was a great base. It's across the street from the train station, right in downtown Hikone. The hotel feels modern and the rooms were clean. Breakfast was included, a substantial buffet with lots of different foods. Bicycle parking is in the lobby. Highly recommended!

The rooms were very spacious and clean, and all the staff provided excellent service. A lovely buffet breakfast was included in the price. The downside for cyclists is that the hotel doesn't make any arrangements for bikes. You have to take them apart and put them in bags.

A good value for the money, and the station is conveniently close. The basic room was comfortable enough for a couple of nights. Breakfast was included, but it was basic too, and the food was often not very warm. Outside was quiet, with most of the shops on the other side of the station.
