APA Hotel Hakataeki Chikushiguchi

We stayed five nights in October as two adults with our four-year-old, in a Twin Room with 2 beds in the Central Building. The beds were a good size for us and comfortable. The room is smaller than the photos suggest, though that seems standard for city hotels in Japan. There was barely room to open a suitcase, so we kept our luggage under the bed to make space to walk around. The central air conditioning was a bit unpredictable. It shut off when we removed the room card, which made the room humid. The temperature was fine during our stay, but I doubt it would be enough in hotter weather. A few practical things: check-in was easy using your name, but everyone’s passport needs to be scanned. There’s a lobby area where you can leave bags before check-in, which saved us from using coin lockers. The room has a bathtub, handy with a young child. There are two APA hotels close together on the same street, so be sure to choose the Central one, not the West building across the street. The Central building has two washing machines and two dryers, all taking 100¥ coins. The West one has just one of each. Laundry can take at least an hour, gets busy at night, and might need more than one drying cycle. A portable drying rack in the room could come in handy. Detergent is included, though I’m not sure what kind; my toddler, who has somewhat sensitive skin, was fine with it. Parking overnight at the hotel cost 1800¥. Drive to the entrance on the hotel’s left, and the attendant will guide your car onto a platform that lifts it away. He explained in Japanese that we couldn’t access the car during certain hours. Pay when you collect it. They accept cash or Paypay only.
