Saiei Ryokan

The building itself was nice and clean, which makes this more disappointing. I stayed here for a winter sports training camp, but the owner's manner was awful. He didn't greet me, barged into the room in front of the other guests, glared when I parked in the lot by the entrance, then parked his own car as close to the entrance as possible. His behavior made me think he wasn't suited to running an inn. I've stayed at plenty of hotels and inns, and this was one of the worst. What a shame.

The bath was wonderful. It seemed to have no time limits, and when I went at 5 AM, the stone-tiled tub was large enough for about four adults. Wi-Fi worked in the room too. The shared bathroom and washroom aside, the rooms were clean and tidy. With accommodation prices so high these days, a room without meals for under 6,000 yen is a rare find. Hirosaki Castle is nearby, the restaurant district is about a 10-minute walk, Bikkuri Donki is right across the way, and there's a convenience store about five minutes away. I'd happily stay again if I come back to Hirosaki.

It felt a bit like coming home, and I appreciated having a refrigerator in the room. I stayed several nights, and it made a great base for sightseeing. The bathroom, toilet, and sink were shared, but all were clean. Thank you very much!

The rooms are very clean, and so are the shared areas, including the hallways and bathrooms. It looks like the place has been renovated.
