Hotel Hokke Club Hiroshima

From the outside it looks like a nice budget hotel and it’s not far from attractions, but my stay was worse than at most budget places. The bed was extra, extra firm, the hardest I’ve slept on across five hotels in Japan. The pillow was very hard and firm too, like in many Japanese hotels, so bring your own if you don’t want one that feels like a brick. There was no drinking water and nowhere to refill a bottle, so bring water. The onsen was okay, just one indoor pool, but it was nice to have.

It’s central, inexpensive, and the staff are nice. But if you don’t smoke, make sure they don’t assign you a smoking room. The cigarette stink mixed with a harsh air freshener made it almost impossible to sleep. People were noisy in the corridors too.

We booked at the last minute, and it wasn’t cheap. The staff were amazing, but the rooms really need an upgrade. The bus was nearby, though it took a 7-10 minute walk to reach the main subway station.

Fukuromachi Tram station is only a two-minute walk away, and there are plenty of Lawson convenience stores nearby. The hotel is also about a ten-minute walk from Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park. It’s a simple business hotel, with small rooms that have the essentials, and I’d definitely recommend the public bath. The staff were incredibly kind and helpful, and flexible about arranging things. Breakfast had a wide choice and was delicious, drinks included. Thanks for such a great experience. I’ll come back! Thank you very much！
