POPTONE the Guest House - Hostel

We found bed bugs during our stay, and the guesthouse wasn’t clean. There was nobody managing the place, so we couldn’t alert anyone about the infestation. The location was only half decent.

I stayed for one night in May 2025 and would definitely come back. The dorm beds were comfortable, with privacy curtains, sockets, a light, and luggage storage. Staff were lovely, helpful, humble, and always ready to assist. The location is great. The tram station is about a five-minute walk away, Hiroshima Station is a 15-minute walk, and the Peace Park area is 20-30 minutes on foot.

The rooms and bathrooms were clean, and guests were considerate about noise and keeping their things tidy, even though the place is a bit narrow. Earplugs are provided. Check-in was easy, and communication with the host online was good. It’s ideally placed for exploring Hiroshima and Miyajima. Check-in only starts at 4pm, and an earlier time would be nice. Aside from that, I’d recommend it at this price.

The hostel is left unlocked, there’s no security for your belongings, and no staff are around to handle problems. It’s a couple of dorms with bunk beds and paper-thin walls, so you can hear everything and light comes in from all directions. The AC doesn’t work properly, the whole place is boiling, the common area is tiny, and the bathrooms are dirty. The guests also seemed to have no etiquette. Most were rude and disrespectful. One guy took two phone calls in the middle of the night, and another woman watched anime without headphones. Don’t waste your money, stay somewhere else.
