Sotetsu Fresa Inn Hiroshima

We stayed one night in October, three of us in a connecting room. It worked well for a night, though it would feel small for a longer stay. The room was clean and the under-bed storage fit our luggage, but the bathroom was cramped and dim, with no light over the tub. There’s a Lawson on the first floor, six washer-dryers in the building (we didn’t use them), and a lobby amenity bar with a good selection. The hotel is secure with an elevator key card, though the elevators were a little slow but fine. It’s about three blocks from Hiroshima station and much cheaper than other nearby hotels. I’d pick somewhere more upscale next time, but this is a good option for location and value.

The breakfast was really good, with lots to choose from, even if there wasn’t much Western food. I was in Japan, so Japanese food suited me. Rooms were clean, beds comfortable, and the usual Japanese amenities were there. There’s a kombini next door, and the hotel is right opposite the train station, with trams and connections to get around. Restaurants are all around, and there’s a mall inside the station with a good food court upstairs. The washer-dryer combo left clothes very damp, so I had to air-dry them in the room. Great hotel, highly recommend it, and I’d stay again.

There’s a locked luggage room where you can store your bags using an IC card, and amenities are available at reception on the second floor. A Lawson is at the entrance and there’s a 7/11 across the street. Reception staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was standard, small but clean, and the location was convenient, about a five-minute walk from Hiroshima Station with lots of restaurants nearby. I paid $40 a night, which felt very reasonable.

It was good value and well located for trains and buses, though roadwork and construction made it harder to find where to go. I lost a star because there were no towels in my room at check-in, so I had to go back down and get some from reception. The reception area can get cramped, especially at checkout. When I left, a tour group of German students was also checking out and blocking all the machines, not using them, just standing in the way, which made it difficult to squeeze through. Still, it was a good stay for the money. Thank you.
