Yasuragi Guest House & Bar

There’s a nice walkway right behind the house, along the river, and the room was a good size with a comfortable bed and its own shower. The toilet and kitchen are shared. The owner was very sweet, though I was too jetlagged to spend time at the bar. I’d stay here again in a heartbeat.

A lovely guest house, and I’d definitely recommend it. Yoshimi was kind and helpful, and from our room we could see the river and Hita Fireworks Festival.

It’s a small, simple place, but the rooms are big. Mine had tatami flooring and a Western-style bed. The lady in charge was lovely, down-to-earth, very helpful, and spoke very good English for the area. The bathrooms are shared, but with just a few rooms, that wasn’t a problem for me. The setting is beautiful, with a park a short walk over a bridge. I’d happily stay here again.

Yasuragi is clean and comfortable, though it’s not the place for someone after a standard hotel room with a TV. Staying here gives you a real glimpse of modern life in small-town rural Japan, and it’s a great base for enjoying Hita and the beautiful surroundings. The host is delightful and helpful with everything. Her English-speaking friends are generous too, and happy to share information and advice with travelers.
