The place has a distinctly local feel, which I liked, and the front desk staff were very helpful. I was there for work and they reserved a parking space for me since I was staying several nights. Parking is paid. There were all kinds of things to borrow at the desk, even a Famicom. The room itself was quite old and the wallpaper was peeling in places, though I don't mind that much. It was quiet, so I slept peacefully. Breakfast was a buffet with very few choices, and the food was average. The location was okay, but there wasn't much nearby to go out to.

The building looked well worn, but the room had been cleaned carefully, and for the price I thought it was perfectly adequate. I also got a welcome highball. There seem to be plenty of nearby restaurants and bars for dinner, and the simple breakfast at least had warm rice, which I preferred to buying convenience store food. I found the hotel while searching Agoda for a visit to Hitachi, and this was my first stay. On 2026.1.3, I paid 4,930 yen for one night with breakfast. If you're driving, you can park for 300 yen overnight when a space is available. I'd recommend it if value for money is what you're after.

Room 410 was spotless, probably because it had been renovated, even though the outside of the hotel looks very old. I booked the cheapest room on Agota, which was listed as smoking, then emailed Agota to ask if they could deodorize it. They switched me to a non-smoking room. Since another room was available, they also moved me from a single to a larger twin. Amazing. They offer complimentary breakfast, including coffee jelly, yogurt, and two other desserts. The welcome drink is another highlight. Lots of business hotels now serve drinks, even alcohol, but here you can have as much as you like. There’s whiskey or shochu, or you can order a highball and pick regular or strong carbonation. I got dizzy from it, they’re that generous! Great staff and a wonderful stay. If you're working near Hitachi Station, this is the only choice.
