Hotel-Auberge

Those horses look very skinny and not in good shape, and they seem old as well. I definitely wouldn't ride them again.

The meal was a real letdown for an auberge. The hot dishes arrived lukewarm, and at breakfast the highland vegetables were dry, the drinks were lukewarm, and the egg dishes were cold, perhaps because they had been sitting out for a while. Checking in was exhausting. I was told to go to the back lobby while the person ahead of me was still dealing with their luggage, so I hauled my large bags over there. Then another staff member said he would come back to the entrance to check me in, and I had to carry everything back again. No one helped, and the staff seemed poorly coordinated. I stayed one night during summer vacation. There was dirt and trash around the place, and it didn't feel comfortable or relaxing. I wondered if the guest rooms were only used during the busy summer season. I won't return and wouldn't recommend it.

A day to unwind, with a selection of dishes that includes specially chosen game. Afterward, the gathering is around a bonfire. 🥃

I went in mid-April 2025 and really enjoyed the cooking over a wood fire. The aroma from the fire made the food even more appetizing. I was sorry not to be able to watch the cooking up close, but the chef's skill showed in a method that takes such careful heat control. I tried some game as well, and the wild boar pâté was better than I expected. Venison tastes a bit too wild for me personally, so I'd recommend the pork or trout.
