Family Lodge Hatagoya Ibara

The room had plenty of space, and the bed was comfortable. We stayed three nights in this quiet residential neighborhood and were satisfied enough that we'd like to come back. The bathroom and toilet are separate, though there weren't many amenities, and the shower pressure in our room was strong.

I've spent about 50 nights at the Nationwide Dog Travel Inn, and I'm always grateful to them. It's in a peaceful residential area. The highway is a bit of a drive, but getting to Onomichi and Tomonoura isn't bad. There's a family restaurant nearby, though no convenience store within walking distance, so it's handy to pick up drinks and other things before arriving.

For the price, I don't think it's a bad deal, especially since our family of five could stay cheaply. It's a bit far from the highway, and while the rooms were cleaned, the carpets still had a lot of stains and the place felt old. They provided bread, coffee, and apple juice in the morning.

The rooms are simple, tidy Western-style rooms, with generally spacious beds and bathrooms. After checking in at reception, you reach your room along an outdoor corridor. There are vending machines and a shared laundry area, and I think drinks were available by the front desk too. Breakfast included a few kinds of bread. You used to be able to eat and drink in the lounge near reception, but it seems food now has to be taken back to your room. The hotel sits a little off the main road and can be easy to miss in daylight; its lit sign stands out at night, so finding it then shouldn't be a problem.
