Fukiagehama Field Hotel

A great spot for glamping, with a good variety of facilities that are thoughtfully set up for families and groups.

Such a lovely place!

We spent three days and two nights here as a group, trying a trailer house the first night and a private room the second. The facilities were excellent, and we had a really satisfying vacation. The trailer house had a hammock, and being able to barbecue right there was fantastic. There’s also a pool and a bonfire area, so it works well for families and couples. I can picture reading in the hammock until sunset, then getting together with friends for a barbecue. I recommend the curry for breakfast, too. We’d love to come back. I didn’t take many photos, so it may be hard to show just how nice it was.

The hotel is new and clean, and I can see it appealing to pet owners and younger guests. Still, room comfort was an issue for me. My room was on the same floor as guests with pets, as other reviewers have mentioned. There was only one small elevator, so I avoided it when our timing might overlap. I was also surprised when a guest walked a pet across the restaurant terrace while we were eating and staff said nothing. I have nothing against people with pets, but some guests dislike them or have allergies. I wish the hotel would clearly separate routes like the entrances and elevators at check-in. Music I didn’t like was playing from the neighboring balcony both at night and in the morning, so I couldn’t relax on the terrace. I’d be fine with that if the rooms were well soundproofed and there were more space between them, but I didn’t like hearing it next door. There was also a speaker in the room. The TV still had the previous guest’s Netflix account on it. It would’ve been better mounted on the wall, since it took up table space and was too close to watch comfortably from a chair. I usually judge a hotel by its bath, food, and room comfort. For the bath, hotel guests have to use the hot spring facility next door rather than one reserved for them. The many warning signs inside gave me a bad feeling as soon as I entered. Maybe because it was the weekend, the family bath wasn’t available, and the large public bath was packed with locals. Some had rude manners, and I couldn’t relax. The bath in our room was too small to use with children, so sharing it was out of the question. I wish the hotel were a little more child-friendly. The course dinner was delicious, and the all-you-can-drink option was satisfying. But it was a shame that non-drinkers paid the same price. Dinner was good, while the breakfast selection and flavor felt more like what you’d get at a business hotel.
