Silk Hotel

The location worked really well, close to the station with a convenience store nearby, and the area was quiet. At around 5,500 yen even on a Saturday, it was a welcome affordable option with hotel prices going up. I also found Ichinomiya near Nagoya to be uncrowded and not tiring. I'd stay again if I get the chance. My single room was spacious and comfortable, unlike some newer business hotels where there's barely room to open a carry-on. The table was big and the light over the mirror was bright, both useful. The hotel has an older business-hotel feel, but the front desk, corridors and room were all very clean and well kept. Amenities were basic but fine for me, though there were no body sponges. Combs and razors were at reception. The slippers weren't disposable, so bring your own or wear socks if that matters to you. A few quirks: the TV doesn't have YouTube, there's only one elevator, and you need to leave your key at the desk if you go to a convenience store. I liked the built-in table button for boiling water, which was new to me since there was no kettle. One outlet was by the table and two were under the unit bathroom door, but none was near the pillow, which made phone use and turning off the alarm awkward. The shower head only fit at the very top, perhaps because I'm short. The toilet seat was cold, hot water temperature needed adjusting, and the unit bathroom door only opened 90 degrees, so don't force it. Shampoo and conditioner were combined, so bring your own if you mind that. I'd read in advance about the roller curtains that keep the air conditioning from blowing straight at you while sleeping, and I was able to use them. For a multi-night stay, tell the front desk if you don't need cleaning or hang the do-not-disturb sign; they'll leave fresh amenities outside in a basket. If you do neither, they'll clean even on the second night. That basket was another first for me.

The location is a big plus: it's only a few minutes on foot from Owari-Ichinomiya Station, with restaurants, a drugstore and a convenience store close by. The front desk staff were reasonably polite, the room had decent space, and Wi-Fi worked. Even with hotel prices rising, I paid a very reasonable 5,500 yen, plus 700 yen for parking. The bathroom was quite small and had no washlet, which was disappointing. There was no razor either.

I stayed here while doing training at CarMatch Aichi Inazawa store and was very satisfied. The price was reasonable, the Wi-Fi stable, and being close to both the station and a convenience store was a real help.

I won't be coming back. The room was tiny, the carpet stained all over, and the unit bathroom was dirty and badly cleaned. It was only suitable for showering, not for a comfortable soak. The air conditioner's labels had faded so I couldn't tell how to set it, and it was extremely noisy. A cockroach showed up on the first day of my three-night, four-day stay. Breakfast cost 600 yen and started at 7 AM, too late for me to get to work on time.
