Kumegawa Onsen

A nice tucked-away onsen, and dinner is reasonably priced too!!

Everything was really delicious!

The staff were friendly wherever we dealt with them, from the front desk to the restaurant, and that gave the place a very welcoming feel. The food was plentiful and satisfying. There didn't seem to be many ready-made dishes, which gave the meals a hospitable, carefully prepared feel. The hotel is a bit far from Iida Station, and public transport doesn't run often, so getting there is inconvenient. The surroundings are quiet, which suits people who mainly want to enjoy the hot springs, but there are hardly any shops within walking distance. Since it's also a day spa, the baths were busy when I checked in early. The rooms are standard and well equipped, and I found the cleaning acceptable. There are 23 rooms, and given the daytime spa operation and number of staff, I felt they were making an effort.

I came with my wife after a day trip around Nanshin, having asked for somewhere we could bathe quietly. The water was clear and felt slippery, with sodium in it. There was just one other person there, so we could relax and feel refreshed. My wife said she'd definitely come back because the baths were clean and peaceful. I'd been able to visit for a day bath before when I stayed with my cousin.
