Super Hotel Nagano Iida Inter

The modern architecture, good service and pleasant onsen are the good points here. The rooms are tiny, with nowhere to put your things even for two people, and the bathroom is awful. As a tourist, there isn’t much for you in the dining hall. Breakfast is mostly local cuisine, and I wouldn’t recommend eating there. The main reason for my low rating is the cigarette smell throughout the hotel. It’s in the hallways, lobby and dining hall, and you can barely breathe. Do yourself a favor and don’t stay more than one night.

A PIN code gets you into the room, and you can check out without stopping at reception. The room was quite clean, with a bed that was big enough and a table I liked for its generous size. The bathroom and toilet bowl were both very small. Breakfast is free, tasty and has a fair amount of choice, though I think the sticky rice could be better. Super Hotel isn’t especially super compared with other hotels, but it’s nice enough.

This is a new, modern business hotel with efficient, clean but very compact rooms. There’s a big table by business hotel standards if you need to work. I barely used the very small onsen. The coded door lock is convenient, the laundry room is good and the dryer is free. Staff deserve a mention too, they were really nice and helpful.

I’m writing this from another hotel that costs almost three times as much, and I still think Iida’s Super Hotel is far better. I was happy and comfortable through my four nights. The room was quiet and could be made really, really dark, and the Wi-Fi was super fast. Staff were friendly, too. Breakfast was excellent, with homemade dishes rather than generic packaged food, and the onsen was great with convenient hours. If you like sweets, HOTA is an incredible Kakigori place nearby. I recommend it!
