Hotel Hoteiya has a nostalgic feel, like stepping back to the era when it was first built. The old charm has been preserved beautifully, which made this a unique and authentic stay that’s getting harder to find. My family had a wonderful time in Iiyama, and we’d gladly return and recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable visit. The owner welcomed us warmly and made us feel comfortable from the moment we arrived. Our room was clean, cosy and well maintained. Thank you for the hospitality ☺️

The owners made me feel as if my own grandmother and grandfather were looking after me, and I felt right at home. It’s a lovely traditional Japanese Hotel, and you can imagine what it was like in its heyday. If you’re staying overnight in Iiyama, don’t miss the experience. Have a meal there, breakfast for sure and dinner too. Lovely people.
Comfortable and very affordable hotel in a quaint town. There are lots of good places to eat nearby, and parking at the hotel is free!
We were a group of eight on a snowboarding trip, and all of us enjoyed the building’s quaint atmosphere. It’s historic, so people who like luxury hotels may not enjoy it. The staff were kind and greeted us with “welcome back” when we returned from the bath. The peaceful, comfortable feel was lovely. Our Japanese-style room was on the lower floor from the main entrance and spacious enough for a big group. The bath is like one at home, so we booked a plan that included access to a nearby hot spring facility. If you’re travelling with a large group, bringing an extension cord with a power outlet is probably a good idea. There are bars within walking distance, so there’s plenty to enjoy nearby. I’d definitely stay here again when skiing in places like Myoko.
We booked a Japanese-style room without a bath or toilet. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the toilets were shared. There were two baths, a large family bath and a smaller one. Both could be locked for privacy, so we filled the tub and showered. There were lots of nearby restaurants and the food was delicious. Convenience stores and drugstores were also within walking distance along the covered shopping street.
