The buffet at dinner and breakfast had a good range of choices, and the staff were patient, helpful, and spoke English with us. There’s also a small convenience store inside. The indoor public onsen felt a bit small, though a private one is available for an extra charge. We booked the hotel as part of a friends’ snowboarding trip to Madarao Ski Resort. It’s near P7 parking, so getting to the slopes is easy. The lift ticket counter is by Heidi Restaurant, which means you need to ski down first to buy tickets. Madarao generally draws a lot of international visitors because Madapow is popular with them.

The private onsen costs 16,000 yen for 45 minutes, which I thought was cheap. There’s also a public bath. The hotel is a little old, but decent. I had a Western-style room, while my friends stayed in a tatami room, which felt cozier. For the trip up from Iiyama Station, take the bus to Hotel Koegan first, then call Hotel Silk for a pickup. From there, it’s about a 10-minute walk. The hotel is close to the ski slope, and you can ski down to the main lifts. I rented my gear somewhere nearby instead of at the hotel. We came in early February, and the crowds were great, honestly. It wasn’t too busy, so I could snowboard comfortably. I’d definitely recommend that time.

The walk to the main ski resort takes 5-10 minutes, and I didn’t mind it at all with Madarao’s beautiful scenery along the way. I’d definitely stay here again. I liked everything, from the tasty meals and cozy rooms to the relaxing onsen with a mountain view. It isn’t a high-class hotel and doesn’t offer a luxurious experience or service, but I’d still give it 5 out of 5. The staff are thoughtful, and the food and atmosphere are great.

The price felt more than fair for what we got, with good value and no sacrifice in quality. The staff were kind and attentive throughout, and seemed to really care that we had a good stay. It’s an older hotel, but that gives it warmth and character. The cozy, lived-in atmosphere made our vacation feel more personal and relaxing, unlike the sterile feel of newer places. If you want character, comfort, and beauty, this hotel delivers. I’d stay again.

Mira was especially welcoming and helpful, and the staff were accommodating in general. The rooms were comfortable and had great mountain views. Breakfast was good too. I had a great stay here for a ski trip and would definitely come back.
