The staff were so friendly. They explained everything clearly, suggested nearby shrines, parks, places to eat, and other spots worth exploring, and speak English, so communication was easy. There's a bus stop about a 5-7 minute walk away, which makes the location convenient. I'd definitely recommend staying here if you're in Aizu. We were on the second floor. The staff warned it could be noisy, but it wasn't. There were extra blankets, which came in handy when my friend felt cold. Towels are provided, and the shower room has Muji face cleansers and good-quality shampoo. A toothbrush costs an extra 200 yen, which surprised us a little, though it was wooden and good quality, possibly more eco-friendly. It's a very nice spot for a day or two alone or with a friend or partner.

At 10:00 the next morning, the owner came back and shouted at my friends, then at me. I'd booked two rooms, but we were treated with hostility instead of basic professionalism. We were told to clean the rooms, sort the trash, and leave within 10 minutes. We did that, yet were still charged an extra cleaning fee, supposedly because washing the bedding would take half a day. There was heavy snow, but no flexibility or consideration. The stay felt stressful and intimidating, and I'd strongly advise people to avoid this place unless they're prepared to be treated this way. The problem was the owner's behavior, which made this one of my most uncomfortable accommodation experiences. Guests have to make their own beds, and the setup was excessively complicated, with multiple mattress layers, a blanket, extra covers, and pillowcases. After a long journey, that was especially hard in a cramped room. One bed was a top bunk where sitting upright meant hitting my head on the ceiling, making it nearly impossible to set up properly. Despite all that, the owner came to our room late at night and scolded us aggressively with inappropriate language. On the same trip, we stayed at another small inn run by a local couple. They were polite, patient, and genuinely helpful, answering questions respectfully, calling nearby onsens to check availability, and even picking us up at the station for free. That contrast made this stay even more disappointing. The issue wasn't the facilities, but how guests were treated. The attached photo shows the weather outside the property at the time.

The place is built with beautiful wood that smells lovely, naturally, not like air freshener. There's even a TV in the room, which is a nice bonus!

A great little hotel with lots of extra amenities. I had a really nice stay.

The place is clean, warm, and beautifully finished in wood, with soft, cozy lighting. They have a wide variety of teas, too. Staff were genuinely friendly and kind. One of them suggested nearby spots, and we found Pepe Bar just a couple of minutes away. Locals gather there, and you'll almost certainly get drawn into a conversation. They provide everything you might need, even makeup remover and facial cleanser, which I usually only see in higher-end hotels. The shampoo and hand soap were quality brands and smelled amazing. The only small thing is that you need to buy a toothbrush on-site for 200 yen, just over $1, but that's minor compared with the level of service. It's a cozy escape from big cities and a chance to experience rural Japan.
