Hotel Listel Inawashiro Main

I left a day early and wasn't accommodated for the extra day and breakfast I'd paid for. I even ended up paying another 17000 yen for an onsen I hadn't used. The pet area had broken locks, and my pets were out of their cage in the morning, which was dangerous. It was dirty and smelled strongly of smoke, enough to make it hard to breathe. The outside steps by the pet area are meant for snow, not small pets, which also seemed dangerous. I booked because I needed a place that accommodated pets, but it wasn't pet-friendly in practice. Pets had to stay separately with no supervisor, so after checking in my trip felt like babysitting and I wanted to leave. I was very disappointed with Hotel Listel and mostly Hotels.com. The location is beautiful, and the exterior was what you'd expect, maybe a little better. The main floor is the only part that looks like the internet photos. Everything else, including the pool, bathing and gym, costs extra. The hallways need updating, the decor is in bad shape, and cigarette smoke lingers. The room was among the worst I've had for the price. I've stayed in over 20 places around Japan this year, cheap and expensive, and this one was extremely expensive for what it offered. Hotel Listel Inawashiro should cut the price by 20000 yen or do a major renovation. The onsens are large, but need upkeep. I only tried the indoor one, not the outdoor one, and found little difference in temperature among the three baths, if any. For a resort at this price, they need major renovation. I could go into much more detail, but this sums up my worst experience at a resort that was supposed to accommodate pets and provide customer service.
