Taikoji Shukubo Hostel

The host was friendly, and the location was easy enough to find, but I don't recommend the place. I booked on air bnb thinking we'd have the whole place to ourselves, but it turned out to be one room in an old Japanese house. It also seemed more expensive through air bnb than the standard rate. For a similar price, there are much nicer hotels in the area, including by the seafront. There was no warning about insects. I understand they're around in that kind of area, but I wouldn't have stayed if I'd known I'd be sleeping with mosquitoes and spiders. Many people would be uncomfortable showering with moths and large spiders on the toilet ceiling. It gets pretty dark at night, and the convenience store is a little far, so bring snacks. Strong typhoon winds made the old building incredibly noisy and felt very unsafe. I could also hear a guy's TV playing really loudly in his room. It wasn't a terrible stay, but I wouldn't recommend it.
