Akaishi Churauma House

We visited in August during Obon, but the Akashi area was still quiet, so we could really relax. Akashi Beach was close enough that we could go whenever we wanted. The room had a simple, comfortable design and plenty of space to spread out our suitcases. The bathroom has only a shower, but the toilet and shower room are separated by a partition rather than being in a standard combined unit, which was handy. There's also a microwave in the room, even though the website doesn't mention it. Plan to pick up food and supplies when you go into town. Akashi Shokudo nearby only opens Friday through Sunday, and there are no dishes in the room, so you'll need to buy chopsticks and other utensils. The Akashi Community Store sells bread, drinks, and instant noodles. For lunch, the soki soba and zenzai at the next-door Churauma Cafe are tasty and worth trying.
