Bosoa Lodge

The shop had only reopened the day before, after being closed for a while, so I was lucky with my timing! The owner is a refined woman who lived in Europe for a long time. She clearly cares a lot about where she gets her products and has a sharp eye for quality. She also suggested several great places around Ishigaki Island, and I went to them right afterward. I’ll definitely stop in again next time.

We stayed in the lodge for four nights, and it’s a place I’d absolutely come back to. The room, amenities, service, and owners were all wonderful. It felt lovely to slow down and relax in the lodge, especially with the big windows looking out toward the sunrise over Shiraho Beach. The room was clean, with cute decor and amenities. They’d left coffee beans and a grinder, so we made coffee and enjoyed it on the private terrace outside. I also recommend the little goods shop next door. The welcome book in the room, or whatever it was called, listed recommended restaurants around the island, an izakaya close to the lodge, and lesser-known spots. It was a big help with planning our trip. There were lots of thoughtful things for guests heading into the water too. We could rent snorkeling gear for a reasonable extra charge, and they could do laundry and drying for us. There’s a place to rinse your feet just inside the grounds, then you can go straight into the shower room from outside. That was a huge help after swimming. The room also had a drying rack for swimsuits, beach towels, and a stylish beach bag to take along. Most of all, make time to talk with the owners, the Mori couple. They’re genuinely lovely people, and they didn’t just provide attentive service, they really helped us figure out how to enjoy the trip. The weather was unsettled because of a typhoon while we were there. They gathered information and made their own predictions about the weather and tides, then helped us work out when and where we might be able to go into the sea, which beach to visit, what day to move our flight to, and where to stay if we extended our trip. Their advice was accurate and trustworthy, and I was moved by how personally they took our questions. Thanks to them, we made our best memories on Ishigaki Island. We were completely happy with our stay. Thank you so much!

On my first trip to Ishigaki Island, I found a space so lovely that I thought I’d like to live in a house like that. The owners were wonderful too, and I’m grateful for their kindness. Their shop had lots of lovely things. I’m fond of shell items and had hoped to buy some, but the timing didn’t work out. Now I have something to look forward to on my next visit. Thank you!

The owner was really kind and let me browse at my own pace. The shop has handmade tableware, bags, clothes, and accessories with a stylish, slightly unusual feel. It’s a bit hard to reach without a rental car or bicycle, but a lovely place to find a one-of-a-kind souvenir.
