FUTO HOUSE -Ippon no Enpitsu-

The breakfast was simple but delicious, and there’s a self-serve drinks area. The rooms are spacious, clean, and traditional in style, with a striking view of the mountains and sea. It’s a neat little hotel that feels more like a guesthouse, and the staff make you feel welcome as a traveler, not just a paying customer. You can park a car there, though getting to the place by public transport may be difficult. A lovely escape from the city noise.

Futo House feels so quiet and peaceful, tucked into nature on the Izu Peninsula. The whole place has a calm, cared-for feel that makes it easy to relax and recharge. The host welcomed me so warmly, and her kindness showed in all the little details. I wish I spoke Japanese, since I would have liked to talk with her more and get to know her. A beautiful retreat, and I can’t recommend it enough.

The staff were unfriendly. After the 10am check-out, guests weren’t allowed to stay anywhere in the guesthouse, even in shared areas like the lobby, and otherwise they would charge for late check-out. We were also asked to say by 7:30pm whether we wanted breakfast, but the message asking us came at 7:00pm.

The location worked well, with a short walk to Futo station, restaurants, and a very tasty coffee shop. The room was spotless, maybe the cleanest I’ve ever stayed in, and the breakfast was good and inexpensive. The staff and owner were kind, polite, and friendly. Highly recommended.
