Hoshino Resorts KAI Anjin

The hotel isn’t in central Ito, but Ito is small, and I could walk along the shoreline during the day. Joynt, the beer hall down the street, is worth checking out. The place itself is modern, clean, and fairly quiet. Staff were accommodating, and all four food services were great. We had Kaiseki dinner and breakfast both nights, with different menus each time and plenty to eat. I eat a decent amount and still couldn’t finish the pot of rice. The baths were clean and orderly, with staff coming in often to clean, and even the busy stretch just before dinner wasn’t too crowded. There weren’t many choices at the rooftop snack area outside the baths, but that was fine. I picked up a few snacks at nearby shops for after my bath.

My mom and I had a wonderful stay, and the staff were especially kind and helpful. Our train was suspended because of a typhoon before we arrived, but they flexibly arranged our check-in and dinner, which we really appreciated. My mom had also lost her backpack on the train. The staff were patient and eager to help, and she eventually got it back. The rooftop public bath was great, with a sea view and good ventilation. We’d definitely stay at Kai ANJIN again if we come to Ito.

From our room we had an amazing view, from sunset right through sunrise. My wife and I had a relaxing, pleasant stay at this onsen resort. They had drinks, beer, and popsicles available by the onsen, with a nice place to sit and unwind. Dinner had a wide range of little dishes, and the Scottish brothers was delicious.

The room was spacious, well equipped, and laid out practically, and everyone at the hotel was friendly and helpful. It’s right by the ocean, with a lovely sunset view, and the service was impeccable. We had kaiseki dinner and breakfast included. The food leaned toward seafood and felt a little fusion rather than very traditional. At dinner, our waitress noticed my mushroom allergy and took extra care to make sure breakfast the next day was mushroom-free too. I only wish there were a private in-room onsen option, but that’s a small thing. There are fruit popsicles outside the onsen and beer tasting. I also wish I could buy the Hoshino face wash they have there to take home, it was pretty great.
