Minshuku Otsuka is the best from an ordinary guest's point of view. It's a retro Showa-era guesthouse, but still has distinctive service and an ultra-luxurious dinner that feels soothing for both body and mind. The fugu in Izu is something you can enjoy to your heart's content, and the hot springs and ducks are great too!

Keiko really came through for us. After a serious problem with our accommodation in a neighboring town, she accepted a last-minute booking and stayed up very late so we could check in. She's incredibly kind, a 10 out of 10 person. Our room was huge, easily enough for six with space left over, though I can't say whether all the rooms are like that. It had an ocean view, hot and cold air conditioning, and was super clean. The bathroom was on the same floor. Great value for money. Thank you, Keiko! 🧡

The ocean-view room they prepared for me made for a really pleasant stay. This was a lovely inn that left a lasting impression, and the proprietress was wonderful too. I'd love to return and see her again.

Even though the building's age shows, it was well maintained and our room was clean. There weren't many guests that day, so they combined two rooms for us, which was a nice surprise. The coastal setting has a Showa-era feel, and the food was plentiful and delicious. They even served fugu without our ordering a set course. Baths are reserved by the hour for guests. There's a certificate posted, so you can confirm the bath is a hot spring, even if it might not seem so at first. The parking area is small, and you can't reserve a spot.

We had a spacious room in a great location, and the food was excellent. I still fondly remember the sashimi we had for dinner. The landlady, who I believe is the proprietress, was lovely to deal with. The circuit breaker tripping if you use too much electricity is a bit of a quirky charm. There's a designated parking area, and calling ahead gets you a spot. There are hardly any bars nearby, so head to Ito Station if you want to go out for drinks. It was reasonably priced, and I'd recommend it.
