We stayed in a maisonette with an open-air bath, and the room felt wonderfully private. The layout kept things quiet, the staff gave us just the right amount of space, and a massage chair was always there whenever I wanted to relax. The room's outdoor bath felt open and had excellent water. Dinner was an inventive course, creative in both taste and presentation. It was generous enough that I couldn't finish everything, and the separately ordered braised golden-eyed snapper was especially good. One thing could've been handled better: during the meal, someone hurriedly asked if they could clear my half-eaten plate. I was full and couldn't finish, and it would've felt more thoughtful to suggest I take it back to my room if I wanted. We celebrated with a whole bottle of sparkling wine. My wife said she'd never experienced such luxury, and we had a truly special evening. The in-room bath and massage chair will stay with me. Shimoda is lively and fun for families, while Ito has a quieter luxury that makes a lovely contrast. I'd definitely like to come back.

The moonlight on the sea was fantastic, and it was a great place to stay. I missed breakfast, but the staff were attentive and helpful. There were no insects because of the season. Thanks very much, I'll definitely stay here again!

We came for a special anniversary, and the inn itself was lovely, with a fantastic view and wonderful food. But at night, lots of stink bugs gathered on the terrace, attracted by the light in our room, so we couldn't use our private open-air bath. The only response was insecticide, with nothing else done. Some staff also didn't use polite language, which made me wonder if they were part-timers. One person had a burn-like wound on their hand, and seeing it during dinner shocked me. I wish they'd at least covered it with gauze or gloves. Maybe this sounds greedy, but we paid about 130,000 yen for two people. The food, view, and room were wonderful; we just went at a bad time. I definitely don't recommend going in October.

A peaceful night here means stars and moonlight, with the sea spread out beyond the forested hillside. All nine units are detached, so it feels like a small private villa, and you can enjoy the open-air bath in your room without worrying about other people. The water has a slight sulfur smell, feels like a proper hot spring, and leaves you warm, with soft, hydrated skin. I found it easy to soak again and again without feeling worn out. Service was polite and considerate, with a comfortable amount of distance. Dinner and breakfast were both served in private rooms; dinner was a delicious, beautifully presented creative kaiseki meal featuring ingredients from Izu. You can pay extra to check out at noon, which let us enjoy the hot spring almost until the last minute. The sunrise is especially lovely, so New Year is a great time to visit. The location is wonderful, and I'd like to return.

The room was roomy, the hot spring was great, and I left very satisfied. Dinner was creative, delicious, and just the right size for an evening drink back in the room. I ate every bit. There were a lot of bugs at night, as other people have mentioned. My room had stink bugs all over, but they were outside, not inside, and the inn's description said they were easy to find, so it was fine. Getting there meant winding down a narrow road. There was a little sign, so I didn't get lost, even though I kept thinking, “This way!?” When I arrived, they greeted me, checked me in, and showed me to the room.
