Love it, love it..

Dinner and breakfast were both a 5 for me. Dinner had appetizers, simmered dishes, bouillabaisse, risotto, steak, and cheesecake. My favorite was the fried whitebait ajillo on baguette. Breakfast was an unusually generous Western-style spread, with salad and lots of steamed vegetables. Even the yogurt and the jam served with it were homemade, and delicious. The couple running the place were talkative, but I didn’t find them pushy and enjoyed chatting with them. They made the welcome iced tea fresh, and the tea and cookie were both tasty. They even set up the massage chair for me, which I appreciated. For 15,000 yen, I thought it was a bargain, and the price is the same over Obon and New Year’s too. That’s rare value for a pension, and I’d recommend it. The free private hot spring bath was comfortable and relaxing, though the flat tub meant I had to be careful getting in. I wished the chairs were a bit taller. The room had the basics like air conditioning and a TV, and the picture books brought back childhood memories. The bed creaked a little. Cleanliness was 3.5 for me, since the building’s age and cluttered feel stood out. Room score: 4.5, bath: 4, customer service: 5. I’d been curious about this pension in Izukogen and decided to try it.

The hot pie at breakfast was delicious, and the kids got pancakes piled with fruit. We had a luxurious, tasty dinner after being welcomed with a drink. Once the children were asleep, we slipped into the hot spring, which is open around the clock. It was a homey place, and the host couple were pleasant. We felt relaxed the whole time and would like to come again. Seeing wild squirrels was a surprise!

The food was delicious, and I felt comfortable relaxing in my room. The bath was open all day and night with continuously flowing hot spring water, so I could soak whenever I wanted.
