View Resort Marine Hills

The view was lovely, especially on a clear day when the horizon seemed to go on forever. The hotel's guide was right about that last climb, though, it was pretty steep. I also enjoyed the food, and my only real disappointment was the weak shower pressure in the room. I'd be happy to stay again if I get the chance.

The meals were delicious, and the staff were generally very polite, so I had a great time overall. I stayed for the weekend and caught the bus from Kawana Station, but the hill at the end was so steep that even walking up it was hard. I'd suggest a taxi. The rooms and hallways felt cold, and the baths were a bit small, so the facilities didn't quite meet my hotel expectations. It had more of a large pension feel. Still, the view was great, and I got to see the sunrise.

The halls outside the rooms can get pretty cold in winter, so light clothes aren't much help. There's a massage chair, a soft drink machine on the way to the large public bath, and you can buy canned beer and other alcohol at the front desk. Room service has curry rice and other snacks too. For smoking, the only spot is the outdoor bathroom attached to your room. Ask the front desk for an ashtray first. One winter shower quirk: the lever cuts off after about 30 seconds. I found that holding it down with my knee kept the water running. If you stop it each time, the boiler may shut off and the water might not heat up. That's just what I noticed in winter. Others have already covered the room and food, and had good things to say.

Getting there takes some effort since the hotel sits high up a steep slope, so you'll need a car or taxi. Once there, I really enjoyed the garden and the amazing scenery from the bath. The staff were friendly and helpful, and both breakfast and dinner were satisfying and tasty. I'd like to come back.
