Set in the mountains, this is a beautiful onsen with two bathing areas. The one near the hotel entrance has three pools, including two wooden ones and a small one-person wooden tub beside a larger tub. From the entrance-side onsen, you can see the same view as you get standing in front of the hotel. The rear onsen is in a wooden building, with one large ceramic tub outside that makes a nice place to look out at nature.

The location is great, and the food was really good. It’s not modern, but it feels authentic, with private bathrooms and very friendly service. Highly recommend it.

The hot spring was wonderful and left my skin feeling great, though I’ll leave the details to the other reviews. One small quibble: I’m not sure how this can be called a hidden hot spring when it isn’t even that remote. The food was excellent. It wasn’t piping hot because the chef had already gone home while we were eating, but it was still high quality. I was drinking with dinner, so the simmered dish cooled down, and it was still delicious. A simmered dish that tastes this good cold is the real deal, and I rarely come across one. There’s also a secret item, if it’s okay to mention it here: hot-spring-water porridge. Order it the day before and you’ll be happy the next morning.
