For a visit to Tono, this seems to be the town’s main place to stay, and same-day bookings are possible. The public bath was a refreshing bonus. Rooms can fit quite a few people; the beds were comfortable, though the pillows felt firm. Parking is limited, but guests don’t have to pay for it.

The storytelling before dinner was the standout for me. It’s free, runs about 30 minutes, and takes place in a Japanese-style room. I was here on a Club Tourism tour. Dinner was mostly snacks, so I ordered Doblog, which Tono is Japan’s first Doblog Special Zone for. It tasted so good I had two small sips. That was two 150 ml glasses, 300 ml altogether, but the alcohol wasn’t strong, so I didn’t get too drunk. When you think of Tono, it’s definitely Doblog!

The location was good, and the place was clean with excellent service. I had a great stay overall, though a few things took away from it: I couldn’t figure out how to use the shower in my room, there weren’t any outlets by the bed, and the sauna seemed to be broken.

We had a fun get-together over a course meal in a private room. Everyone else was in their 50s or 60s, so the portions were more than enough for us, and we ordered drinks like sake as well. I was here for business. I usually go to Hanamaki Onsen, but this time we wanted a change and decided to try another hot spring.
